Players on Tour were asking for a traditional mallet so Scotty listened to what they were looking for and got to work and came up with two different designs for the cabriolet. He started with the shape, which he wanted to keep simple, and experimented with different metals to achieve the sound and feel that complements the design. The result is a stainless steel body with a premium precision milled German stainless steel (GSS) insert on both the Red X and Red X2. The insert has an elastomer border, which helps achieve the proper sound. The Red X2 also features three red dots behind the shaft to get into the proper position at address. When the dots are hidden by the shaft it means the shaft is at 90 degrees and the putter can perform properly with 4 degrees of loft. Scotty thinks the Red X models produce some of the best sound of all of his designs.
